Remembrance Day Service

A memorial service to commemorate and remember all Australians who have died as a result of war will be held at the Afghanistan Avenue of Honour near Yungaburra.  The Remembrance Day Service is being organised by the Afghanistan Avenue of Honour Association on Tuesday 11 November 2014 commencing at 10:30am.  As part of the service, Major General John Cantwell (Retired) will unveil a new plaque titled "The Hidden Wounds of War". The public is invited to attend and lay a poppy after the service.

An added local feature on the day is a meeting being held at the Yungaburra CWA for the defence community at 1pm. Community Services Tableland are endeavouring to establishing a Tablelands Peer Support Network for Veterans. Former 1 RAR soldier, Dr Timothy White will give a talk titled 'The Enemy from Within: Recovery and Rebuild'. The discussion will focus on the psychological transition from Military to Civilian life.
