CST (Community Services Tablelands) will be presenting a free four-session parenting workshop in Mareeba, in conjunction with Queensland Health.
It will be held at the Mareeba Hospital in the Community Health Meeting room from February 23 and every Monday for four weeks, from 9am to noon.
CST’s Community Educator, Maria McCann will be leading the workshops and said that the workshops are aimed at parents with children up to 12 years of age.
She said, “The aim of KidTalk is to improve parental knowledge and skills around child development, communication and behaviour management to improve the relationship between parent and child.
“When we teach children to manage their emotions and behaviour versus punishment and discipline, we teach them to build healthy relationships in the future.
“Remember to catch your children being well behaved and then praise them for it.
“You will be amazed at the results!”
Topics include child development and growth, Attachment Theory, behaviour management and communication skills.
To attend, please RSVP to Maria McCann on 4091 3850. RSVPs are recommended.
